DAYSTAR DS-1000

Introducing the Daystar DS-1000 I-V curve tracer, a state-of-the-art portable solution designed for testing photovoltaic systems with precision and efficiency. Weighing just 12 kg and housed in a compact non-metallic case measuring 44 x 35 x 20 cm, this device is the ideal companion for both fieldwork and lab environments.

Innovative Testing Mechanism

The DS-1000 utilizes a sophisticated capacitive load system to dynamically modify the impedance connected to the output terminals of photovoltaic (PV) arrays. This unique design allows accurate sampling of voltage and current as the capacitors charge, providing reliable performance during testing.

True Measurement Accuracy

One of the standout features of the DS-1000 is its ability to measure true short-circuit current by initiating the sequence at a negative voltage. The intelligent switching of load capacitors results in a slower sweep rate, enhancing the precision of the I-V curves generated. Each curve consists of up to 1000 data pairs of current and voltage.

Comprehensive Data Analysis

The data collected by the DS-1000 is seamlessly transferred to a control computer for comprehensive display, analysis, and storage through its powerful Windows-based IVPC software. The displayed I-V curve provides critical performance metrics:

    • Open Circuit Voltage (Voc)
    • Short Circuit Current (Isc)
    • Peak Power
    • Voltage at Peak Power (Vpk)
    • Current at Peak Power (Ipk)
    • Fill Factor

Advanced Input Capabilities

The Daystar DS-1000 features two thermocouple inputs, standardly Type T, and two analog voltage inputs that accommodate irradiance sensors. This means that the values from connected sensors are effectively stored within the I-V curve data records, enhancing the analysis process.

Robust Design and Extended Operation

With its rugged non-metallic casing, the DS-1000 ensures operator safety and reliability during deployment in various conditions. The unit is designed for extended use, capable of operating continuously for over ten hours before requiring a battery recharge, providing unmatched convenience in both field and laboratory testing scenarios.

Connectivity Options

The DS-1000 supports multiple connectivity options, including USB and RS-232 serial connections, facilitating easy integration with other equipment and data systems.
