Operation Instructions:
To operate the refractometer, simply place 1 or 2 drops of your sample on the prism surface. Ensure that the daylight plate is closed over the sample, then look through the focusable, cushioned-rubber eyepiece to obtain your readings.
Calibration:
Calibration is straightforward. Place a few drops of distilled water or a liquid standard (such as R.I. oil or prepared sucrose solution) on the prism. Turn the built-in "Zero-Ring" until the shadowline is positioned at the correct liquid value, then secure the ring to lock in the calibration.
