The Keysight / Agilent 8971C is a sophisticated noise figure test set designed for streamlined double sideband measurements and precise single sideband measurements all within a compact unit. This powerful device covers a broad frequency range from 10 MHz to 26.5 GHz, enabling accurate broadband measurements using a single calibration and sweep thanks to its exceptional high-performance components, including a stable YIG filter.

Equipped with a low noise preamplifier, the 8971C significantly decreases the second stage noise figure, addressing a primary source of measurement uncertainty. When utilized in conjunction with the measurement modes of an 8970B, the 8971C enhances measurement capabilities through double down-conversion. This feature is particularly valuable for conducting millimeter wave measurements of amplifiers, transistors, receivers, and mixers with intermediate frequencies (IF) exceeding 1.6 GHz.
