Keysight / Agilent N5500A Phase Noise Test Set
The Keysight / Agilent N5500A is an advanced Phase Noise Test Set, integral to the E5505A Phase Noise Measurement System. Designed for precision and reliability, this device offers comprehensive phase noise measurements, enhanced by the utilization of baseband analyzers and supporting software.
Key Features:
- Carrier Frequency Range: 50 kHz to 1.6 GHz
- Offset Frequency Range: 0.01 Hz to 100 MHz
- Phase Detector Input Power:
- SIGNAL Input: 0 to +23 dBm
- REF INPUT: +15 to +23 dBm
- NOISE Input: Frequencies from 0.01 Hz to 100 MHz, 50-ohm input impedance, max 1 Volt peak
Baseband Analyzer Outputs:
The N5500A features three outputs dedicated to baseband analyses, with several accompanying filters:
- Low Pass Filters: Options available at 100 MHz, 20 MHz, 2 MHz, 200 kHz, and 20 kHz
- AM Blocking Filter: Used for either an external AM detector or the internal AM detector (available with Option 001)
- Decade Spaced Low and High Pass Filters: Operating within 1 Hz to 100 kHz for selective bandwidth limitation
Advanced Options:
Option 001 enhances the N5500A by adding:
- Input Attenuator: From 0 to 35 dB in 5 dB steps
The RF ANALYZER output supports input signals up to 26.5 GHz or baseband noise. The SIGNAL input can be switched between various detectors — including AM detector, RF phase detectors, microwave phase detector, or an external microwave downconverter, with IF signals being appropriately redirected.
Extended Frequency Capabilities:
With Option 201, the N5500A incorporates a microwave phase detector, extending the carrier frequency range to 26.5 GHz. The microwave detector operates within:
- Frequency Range: 1.2 GHz to 26.5 GHz
- Microwave Phase Detector Input Power:
- µW SIGNAL Input: 0 to +5 dBm
- REF INPUT Connections: +7 to +10 dBm
This combination of features makes the Keysight / Agilent N5500A an essential instrument for engineers and researchers focused on precise phase noise measurements and analysis, ensuring high-performance capabilities in diverse applications.
