NH Research 9430-48 Regenerative AC Load
Rent NH Research 9430-48 Regenerative AC Load, 4-Quadrant (Call for Availability)
Introducing the NH Research 9430-48 4-Quadrant Regenerative AC Load, a cutting-edge solution designed for simulating various linear and non-linear loads. This innovative equipment is ideal for applications such as testing UPS systems, AC sources, inverters, rectifiers, switches, circuit breakers, and fuses.
4-Quadrant Operation
The standout feature of the NHR 9430-48 is its unparalleled 4-quadrant operational capability. This bi-directional function allows for comprehensive load simulation, outperforming traditional 2-quadrant AC loads. With the 9430-48, it is feasible to simulate reverse current from inductive or capacitive loads, accurately replicating real-world reactive electrical power flows by returning power to the unit under test (UUT) during specific segments of the AC cycle.
HIVAR® Design Feature
The NH Research 9430-48 incorporates an advanced HIVAR® design, enabling testing of high reactive load input power without the typical reduction of true power (Watts) seen in conventional loads. With the capability to produce reactive power (VARs) up to 2.6 times that of true power, this unit ensures high performance. For example, a load rated at 12kW can also support an apparent power of 31.5kVA.
Emulation Modes
To cater to a diverse array of testing conditions, the NH Research 9430-48 operates across various Emulation Modes:
- Constant Current (CC) Mode: Maintains a constant current draw, suitable for both linear and non-linear loads.
- Constant Resistance (CR) Mode: Simulates a power resistor with a unity power factor.
- Constant Power (CP) Mode: Emulates loads like switching power supplies.
- Constant Apparent Power (CS) Mode: Represents a vector quantity encompassing both real and reactive power.
- Constant RL (CRL) Mode: Mimics a resistive load with inductive properties, ideal for applications such as motors.
Regenerative Return of Load Power to Facility Line
The NH Research 9430-48 efficiently returns over 90% of power back to the facility, providing substantial electrical savings. In continuous loading scenarios, the load can recoup its purchase cost within 2 to 3 years. Even with intermittent use, the regenerative benefits contribute to substantial savings, while enhancing the work environment by reducing air conditioning needs and eliminating the necessity for power upgrades in the facility.
