RENT NH RESEARCH 9430-96 Regenerative AC Load, 4-Quadrant (Call for Availability)

The NH Research 9430-96 is a state-of-the-art 4-Quadrant Regenerative AC Load designed for advanced testing and simulation. With selectable phase inputs and outputs, alongside a built-in waveform digitizing measurement system, the 9430-96 is capable of mimicking a diverse range of linear and non-linear loads. This high-performance equipment is ideal for testing Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPSs), AC sources, inverters, rectifiers, switches, circuit breakers, and fuses. Unlike conventional loads, in sink mode, it efficiently returns power back to the facility mains rather than wasting it as heat.

4-Quadrant Operation

The NH Research 9430-96 stands out with its unique 4-Quadrant operation, allowing bi-directional load simulation that significantly expands testing capabilities over traditional 2-quadrant loads. This feature enables the generation of reverse current resulting from inductive or capacitive loads, effectively sending power back to the Unit Under Test (UUT) during portions of the AC cycle, thereby mimicking real-world reactive electrical power flows accurately.

HIVAR® Design Feature

Equipped with the advanced HIVAR® design, the NH Research 9430-96 facilitates testing high reactive load input power without the typical reduction in true power typically necessary with standard loads. It can manage reactive power (VARs) up to 2.6 times that of true power (Watts). For example, a 12kW Load is also rated at 31.5kVA, providing exceptional flexibility for demanding testing environments.

Emulation Modes

This versatile AC Load operates under multiple Emulation Modes to cater to a wide array of load conditions. The Constant Current (CC) Mode allows for consistent current draw, suitable for linear and non-linear loading. The Constant Resistance (CR) Mode emulates a power resistor with a unity power factor, while Constant Power (CP) Mode mimics the behavior of switching power supplies. Moreover, the Constant Apparent Power (CS) Mode incorporates both real and reactive power, and the Constant RL (CRL) Mode simulates a resistive load with inductive components, such as motors.

Regenerative Return of Load Power

The NH Research 9430-96 excels in energy efficiency by returning over 90% of the load power back to the facility. This regenerative capability not only results in substantial electrical savings but has been shown to recoup purchase costs in as little as 2-3 years for continuous loading tests. Even with intermittent usage, the significant savings from returning power to the facility makes this equipment well worth consideration, enhancing overall workplace comfort by reducing cooling needs and negating the requirement for facility power upgrades.
