Rent the PICOTEST J2111A Current Injector
Description
The PICOTEST J2111A Current Injector stands out as one of the most versatile instruments in the current injector range. When paired with the G5100A or another compatible function generator, it seamlessly performs small signal load steps up to 40MHz, allowing for exceptionally fast rising and falling edges. This dynamic capability enables the simulation of various load types, including the high-speed digital circuit loading that is often predominantly dynamic.
Beyond simulation, the J2111A is a powerful tool for analyzing and measuring output impedance across multiple applications, including power supplies, voltage regulators, power buses, and even batteries. Its non-invasive measurement capabilities extend to assessing the stability of input filters and the negative resistance characteristics of switching power supplies. Additionally, it is essential for extracting critical transistor data, such as small signal current gain and dynamic performance parameters like Ft.

Measuring Output Impedance
The J2111A includes dual output connections: Output and GND, with a DC+AC input interface that can be connected directly to a signal generator or network analyzer. The built-in bias current enhances Class A operation for network analyzer applications. The output current is scaled down by 40dB from the input signal, translating to a 10mA/V scaling factor. The precision current monitor is optimized for termination into a 50 Ohm load, making it ideal for use with network analyzers, oscilloscopes, or digital multimeters (DMM). When linked with a voltage probe, the system effectively measures Voltage/Current to ascertain impedance.
