Boasting a remarkable low-noise internal local oscillator, it can effectively measure a variety of commercially available synthesizers and oscillators without requiring additional options.
For high-end applications, the FSWP50 can be enhanced with a second receive path that enables cross-correlation measurements. This feature significantly increases sensitivity, providing up to 25 dB gain depending on the correlation count utilized. The instrument's advanced internal sources and predominantly digital architecture ensure it performs measurements faster than traditional test systems that digitize signals post-phase detection.
In addition to phase noise measurements, the FSWP50 serves as a comprehensive signal and spectrum analyzer. Its all-in-one functionality allows users to seamlessly transition between measurement channels, enabling a quick overview of the spectrum followed by in-depth phase noise analysis.
