SOLAR 2654-2 Lightning Generator

The SOLAR 2654-2 Lightning Generator is an advanced device designed to synthesize the electrical impulses essential for testing the susceptibility of aircraft equipment to transients induced by lightning strikes. This generator meets the peak voltage and current requirements specified in RTCA/DO-160E, Section 22, at Levels 1 through 3. It offers versatility through the use of various accessory devices, enabling the application of transient waveforms via pin injection, cable bundle injection, and ground injection.

Key Features

    • Modular Design: Customize your system with only the necessary modules to suit your testing needs.
    • Single Rack Portability: Easily transportable, making it ideal for various testing environments.
    • Programmable Waveforms: Capable of generating Single Stroke, Multiple Stroke, and Multiple Burst waveforms to match testing requirements.
    • Injection Methods: Supports pin injection, cable bundle injection, and ground injection up to level 3 for comprehensive testing.
    • Clear LCD Display: Facilitates easy monitoring and adjustment of settings.
    • Controller and Power Supply Module: Integrated for efficient operation.
    • Waveform Timing: Precise control over timing for accurate test replication.
    • High Voltage Power Supply & Modulator: Ensures reliable generation of transient impulses.
    • System Status Displays: Keep track of system performance and operational status effortlessly.

Advanced Functionality

With the Solar 2654-2, users can easily select the transient format, repetition rate, and amplitude through two intuitive controls on the front panel. At the press of a button, a single transient can be generated, or it can be programmed for multiple strokes as required by RTCA/DO-160E/F/G, Section 22.

Testing Flexibility

The system can deliver waveforms either as single events or in groups of up to 10. Furthermore, for waveforms 3A and 3B, multiple-burst sequences can be repeated at 3-second intervals for durations of up to 5 minutes. This feature facilitates comprehensive testing with pseudo-random or uniform transient spacing for multiple-stroke and multiple-burst assessments.

Seamless Integration

Transient generator modules installed in the system's mainframe are automatically recognized by the microcontroller, streamlining the setup process. The LCD display provides real-time information on transient format and repetition rate options, ensuring that users are always informed. The modular nature of the design allows for easy future expansions, enabling the addition of other modules to support additional DO-160 waveforms as testing requirements evolve.
