NH Research 9430-72 Regenerative AC Load, 4-Quadrant
The NH Research 9430-72 is a versatile 4-Quadrant Regenerative AC Load, designed to meet the demands of complex testing scenarios. With selectable phase inputs and outputs, this advanced testing equipment features a built-in waveform digitizing measurement system, allowing for the simulation of both linear and non-linear loads. Ideal applications for the 9430-72 include evaluating UPSs, AC sources, inverters, rectifiers, switches, circuit breakers, and fuses. In sink mode, power is returned to the facility mains, optimizing energy efficiency and minimizing heat dissipation.
4-QUADRANT OPERATION:
Stand out with the unique bi-directional capability of the NH Research 9430-72, which operates in all four quadrants. This feature enables the simulation of reverse currents caused by inductive or capacitive loads, effectively replicating real-world reactive electrical power flows. Unlike traditional 2-quadrant AC loads, the 9430-72 gives you the flexibility to manipulate power in both directions within the AC cycle.
HIVAR® DESIGN FEATURE:
Equipped with the innovative HIVAR® design, the 9430-72 allows for testing of high reactive load input power without the typical reduction in true power (Watts) seen with conventional loads. The HiVAR design supports up to 2.6 times reactive power (VARs) relative to true power ratings providing exceptional testing capability. For example, a 12kW Load is also rated for 31.5kVA, enhancing your testing versatility.
EMULATION MODES:
The NH Research 9430-72 operates in multiple Emulation Modes to accommodate a wide range of loading conditions. The Constant Current (CC) Mode draws a consistent current, suitable for both linear and non-linear loads. Constant Resistance (CR) Mode acts as a power resistor with a unity power factor, while Constant Power (CP) Mode emulates switching power supply characteristics. The Constant Apparent Power (CS) Mode represents a vector quantity encompassing real and reactive power. Additionally, the Constant RL (CRL) Mode simulates a resistive load with an inductive element, such as a motor.
REGENERATIVE RETURN OF LOAD POWER TO FACILITY LINE:
Designed with efficiency in mind, the NHR 9430-72 returns over 90% of power back to the facility, resulting in significant electrical savings. In continuous loading scenarios, the load can recoup its initial purchase cost within 2 to 3 years. Even for intermittent usage, the financial benefits of regenerative power return are substantial, contributing to a more comfortable work environment while reducing the need for extensive air conditioning and facility power upgrades.
