The Whirl-Pak® Cellulose Speci-Sponge® bags are precision-engineered for environmental surface sampling in a variety of critical applications. Whether assessing work areas, equipment, or animal carcasses, these bags are specifically tailored for testing pathogens such as Listeria, Salmonella, E. coli, coliforms, and even anthrax.

Each sponge comes packaged in a sterile, sealed write-on bag, available in either a dry or hydrated format to suit your sampling needs. The user-friendly design ensures a straightforward and efficient sampling procedure. Simply tear open the top of the bag, squeeze out any excess buffer (if using a hydrated sponge), swab the desired surface, then place the sponge back into the bag. Fold the top over three times and secure it using the integrated wire tabs before sending it off to the laboratory for analysis.

• Max operating temperature: Do not exceed 180°F (82°C).
• Freezing capabilities: Suitable for freezing at liquid nitrogen temperatures down to -346°F (210°C); handle with care post-freezing.
• Volume capacity is measured when the bag is closed and folded over three times. Dimensions are approximately ±5%.
• Dry Sponge Shelf Life: 5 years from the sterilization date provided in documentation.
• Hydrated Sponge Shelf Life: 2 years from the sterilization date, with recommended ambient storage at 36°–86°F (2°–30°C).
